Auto-unlock, on a timer
Expecting a delivery? Open the door for 10 minutes, 20, 30, an hour or two. The countdown runs on your home screen and switches itself off.
Coming soon to iOS and Android
BuzzKey turns your building's intercom into a call on your phone. Let a friend in from the bus, hand the dog walker their own code, and see exactly who came by while you were out.
We're getting ready for the App Store and Google Play. Leave your email and we'll send the link the day it's live.
No smart lock, no wiring, no landlord approval for hardware. Your intercom stays exactly as it is.
Intercom audio passes through and is gone. We don't store it, and we can't play it back.
No advertising, no third-party analytics, and we never sell your personal information. Crash reports are scrubbed of personal details, and you can switch them off.
Your building's directory gets a dedicated BuzzKey number for your household, not your mobile.
Built around the way people actually come and go — deliveries, dog walkers, weekend guests, the friend who's already downstairs.
Expecting a delivery? Open the door for 10 minutes, 20, 30, an hour or two. The countdown runs on your home screen and switches itself off.
Give the cleaner a permanent code and the house-sitter one that expires in 48 hours. Visitors key it into the intercom, and the door opens without anyone answering.
"Dog Walker, Mon/Wed/Fri, 2–4pm." Set it once and the door opens on its own in that window. Switch a schedule off without deleting it.
The buzzer shows up full-screen, even on a locked phone. Talk to whoever's downstairs, switch to speaker, and tap to unlock.
Every buzz, code and missed call, grouped by day. Search by name, filter by date or type, then share it as a PDF.
On Family, up to five people share one buzzer number and one log, and everyone's phone rings. Admins invite people and manage the plan.
A working model of the app, running right here. Switch tabs, start an auto-unlock window, reveal a code — or press the buzzer and answer it.
Your building, and one switch.
This is a faithful model, not a live connection — the real app answers an actual phone call from your building's intercom, which a web page can't do. Screens, colours and timings are taken from the app itself. The app has its own demo too: tap Try the demo on the welcome screen, no account needed.
No wiring, no smart lock, no visit from a technician. Step 3 is the only one that involves anyone else — and we'll write that message for you.
Create your account, then choose Basic for one person or Family for up to five. Billing goes through your App Store or Google Play account.
Building name, address, province or state, and unit. BuzzKey then assigns your household its own number, local to your building wherever one is available.
Your property manager points your directory entry at the BuzzKey number instead of your mobile. Here's what to send them.
The buzzer rings your phone like a call, full-screen with a Tap to Unlock button. Test it once with a real buzz.
The one step that isn't yours
Very likely, if your intercom calls a phone number when someone buzzes — which is how most apartment directories work. Here's how to know, and what to ask.
Send this to your property manager
Hi, I'd like to update the phone number listed for my unit in the building's intercom directory. Unit: [your unit number] New number: [your BuzzKey number] It's an ordinary phone number, so nothing changes at the intercom panel itself — visitors buzz exactly as they do now, and the call reaches me the same way. No equipment or wiring is involved. Could you confirm the intercom can dial this number, and let me know once it's been updated? Thanks, [your name]
Both plans have every feature. The only difference is how many people's phones ring. Not sure yet? The demo in the app is free.

Prices in US dollars. Your store shows the exact amount before you buy; taxes may apply depending on where you live. There's no free trial. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in your App Store or Google Play account at least 24 hours before the period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google. If a subscription lapses, you have 5 days to restore it before your number is released for good. See the Terms and Conditions.
Yes. Open the app and tap Try the demo on the welcome screen — no account and no subscription. A simulated visitor buzzes, and you answer, talk and open the door, just as you would for real.
The demo doesn't connect to your intercom, so it can't tell you whether your building is compatible. Check that with your building before you subscribe — see “Will this work with my building?”
The same thing that happens today: the door stays shut, and your visitor buzzes again or calls you. The difference is that the missed buzz goes into your activity log with a timestamp, so you know someone came by.
If you're expecting someone and might not be able to answer, that's what auto-unlock timers, access codes and schedules are for — the door lets them in without you.
When someone buzzes, BuzzKey picks up first and asks: “Please enter your access code, or press star to call the resident.” A valid code opens the door and shows up in your activity log. Pressing star, or entering nothing, rings your phones as usual. A wrong code ends the call.
Would you rather your phone rang straight away? Choose Direct Ring in Settings → Intercom Behavior. That turns codes off for your household.
No, and we'd rather say so plainly. BuzzKey is a convenience layer over the buzzer you already have. It isn't monitored, it isn't an alarm, and it's not a substitute for a lock. It depends on the phone network, your internet connection, your building's intercom and your phone's notifications — any of which can fail — so keep another way to let visitors in.
BuzzKey can't call emergency services. In an emergency, use a regular phone.
No. Call audio passes through our telephony provider in real time and is never recorded or stored. To connect each call we keep a short-lived record — the calling number, the times, which phone answered — and delete it about an hour after the call ends.
What we do keep is your door activity history: who was let in, when, and by which code or household member, because that's the record the app is built around. Everyone in your household can see it.
There are no ads, no tracking across other apps and no third-party analytics, and we never sell your personal information. If the app crashes it sends a crash report with phone numbers and email addresses removed; you can turn that off in Settings. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
You can lock BuzzKey behind a PIN, or Face ID, Touch ID or a fingerprint. Biometric checks happen entirely on your phone; we never receive the data.
One thing to know: the lock protects the app, not incoming calls. So a visitor is never stuck outside, a ringing buzzer always shows over the lock, and anyone holding your phone can answer it and open the door. If your phone goes missing, change your password — that signs out every device on the account — change any access codes you're worried about, and email support@buzzkey.co.
Yes, on the Family plan. Up to five people share one BuzzKey number and one activity log, and everyone's phone rings when someone buzzes. A household admin invites people by email and manages the plan. Basic is for one person.
Update your building details in the app and ask your new building to point your unit at the same BuzzKey number. Your codes, schedules and history stay with your household.
Two caveats. Your number was picked to be local to your old building, so check the new intercom can dial it. And the number isn't yours to keep: it can't be ported to another provider, and it may occasionally need to change — we'll give you notice when we can.
In your App Store or Google Play account settings, at least 24 hours before your renewal date. Deleting the app, or your BuzzKey account, doesn't cancel the subscription.
Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for. Once it lapses you have 5 days to resubscribe and keep your number. After that the number is released for good and can't be recovered — if you come back later you'll get a new one and need to update your building.
Yes. Delete your account in the app under Settings → Security & Privacy → Delete account. No longer have the app? Email support@buzzkey.co from the address on your account and we'll do it for you, once we've checked it's you.
If you're your household's only admin, the household goes too — its history, codes and phone number — and that can't be undone. If the household carries on for other members, its shared history stays with them. Existing backups and logs aren't erased on the spot; they expire on the schedule in the Privacy Policy. Deleting your account doesn't cancel a store subscription.
In Canada and the United States, on iPhone and Android. Your building needs to be in one of those countries too, because your BuzzKey number is a Canadian or US phone number.
Setting up or something not working? See Help & Setup. Something else? Email support@buzzkey.co. From the app, Settings → Contact support adds your app version for us. Privacy questions go to info@buzzkey.co.
BuzzKey is almost ready for the App Store and Google Play. Leave your email and we'll send the download link the day it goes live — nothing else in between.
One email on launch day with the store links. That's it.
No newsletter and no marketing. We'll only use your address to tell you BuzzKey is out.
